Message from the Director

A word—well, several words—from the Director of Admissions

Thanks for visiting us on the web!

As you may know, Indiana Wesleyan University is—and has been for the last two decades—one of the fastest growing Christian universities in the country. Why is this? Well, here are three possibilities:

  • Surveys of incoming students consistently name IWU’s spiritual atmosphere as the primary reason they chose our community.
  • Professors show academic vigor by practicing what they teach, writing textbooks and inviting students to partner with them as research partners and mentees.
  • Stunning facilities make this one of the most modern, beautiful and technologically advanced campuses in the nation.

For some students it is one of the above, and for others all. Whatever it is for you, I hope you will join the students already arriving in record numbers, and get woven into who we are at IWU.

To start, feel free to get to know me a little more: I’ve been part of the Indiana Wesleyan community since 1990, first as a student and now as Director of Admissions. During my student days, I traveled with a drama group, pulled a few pranks, lost an election for Student Government President and replaced the food pyramid with one of my own—mostly pizza--that earned me my freshman 15; I also forged lifelong friendships and fell in love with the woman who became my wife. For over 20 years on this campus I have experienced—daily—the grace and the goodness of Christ.

It is my experiences in this community, both my successes and failures, that make me who I am today: a Christian, a loving husband, a doting father who reads to his kids, a neighbor, a volunteer, a Sunday school teacher and a die-hard Cubs fan. And, I can admit, a lousy golfer.

Of course, you don’t have to follow my 20-year plan. You may only spend four years at IWU, but in those years you will build a spiritual, academic and social foundation that will strengthen you wherever the Lord leads.
