In the World: The Kara Snyder Story

 

Indiana Wesleyan University graduate Kara Snyder went to Cambodia to follow God’s calling on her life.

Snyder serves with World Hope International as part of its aftercare program for girls rescued from trafficking or victimized by rape. She is also a coordinator for teams coming to learn more about human trafficking and what is being done to combat the issue. Called to missions in the sixth grade, Kara began to realize the impact of that call while on her first mission trip as an undergraduate student at IWU. She completed a double major in Intercultural Studies and Biblical Literature, then as a graduate student completed a Master of Arts degree with a major in Counseling.

“I always felt that my professors had my best interest at heart, Snyder said. “They cared about me personally and always had time to listen. It was great having people who believed in you and encouraged you. They all challenged me in different ways and helped me develop, not only as a person but also as a professional.” Kara appreciated the fact that her instructors were all still active in the counseling profession, and the way they were committed to the success of their students. She said her experience at IWU allowed her to understand the University’s mission of equipping world changers.

“Some of my closest friends are those I met in college,” Snyder said. “I still am connected with many of them … they were a huge part of my enjoyment of the program. IWU is a place where God is active and where change can happen in your life if you walk into the experience with an open heart.”
