“At IWU I learned how to implement Christian values—a sense of wanting to do the right things, a sense of purity, a sense of godly moral values.”

Before beginning online classes in Ministry, Michael Beath was already serving at a Florida church.
Having walked the road to recovery himself, Beath led a local chapter of Celebrate Recovery, a program that ministers to people in recovery, people who may have no relationship with God, no honesty, and no accountability. Through the study and application of biblical principles, Celebrate Recovery participants begin to grow spiritually and become free from addictive, compulsive, and dysfunctional behaviors. This freedom ultimately creates a stronger personal relationship with Christ and others.
Michael wanted to deepen his own understanding of God’s word and become a more effective minister, so his pastor/mentor encouraged him to enroll at Indiana Wesleyan University. “It has been an ongoing positive experience,” Michael said, one that has helped him grow in spiritual maturity. “The program was intimidating at first because I didn’t think I had the discipline to do online learning. But constantly interacting with other students caused me to not procrastinate—you cannot hide online! I found myself being exposed to other viewpoints, and I made friends across the country.”
Beath found a great level of love and respect in the online community. Years ago God had restored his relationships and set him on the narrow path. In reflecting on his IWU experience, Michael says, “At IWU I learned how to implement Christian values—a sense of wanting to do the right things, a sense of purity, a sense of godly moral values. I would recommend IWU online to anyone. It deepens your relationship with the Lord.”
Preparing to help others on their spiritual journey strengthened Michael Beath’s own walk. Find out more about how Indiana Wesleyan University’s Ministry Programs can become a part of your own journey.
