Life At IWU

Community Service

Students choose a Christian college because they want to be filled. They want to be a part of a dynamic spiritual community, where professors and peers invest in one another on a level that includes but also goes beyond academics. But as you are blessed by this community, it is important to remember God’s command to Abraham — that he was “blessed to be a blessing.” There are opportunities on and around campus to invest in the greater Marion community, to love our neighbors as ourselves, and to live out the Great Commission.

The Program

The focus of our Community Outreach and Volunteerism experience (COVe) program is to facilitate student involvement with organizations that exist in the area, filling needs they may have in their service to others. The COVe also coordinates IWU events and initiatives with the intent of providing a focused short-term blessing to the Marion community. Some examples include food drives and outreach events such as our annual on-campus Harvest Party.

Our Goals

  • To provide student volunteers to assist Grant County community agencies
  • To partner with community agencies through the provision of student volunteers in an effort to make a difference in Grant County, Indiana
  • To provide a quality example of Christian service in action
