Dr. Spaulding and his wife, Laura, live in the country outside Wabash, Indiana, with their two teenage children.

Dr. Spaulding's dissertation is titled "The Tree for the Forest: Eco-Typology and the Tree of Life in John Milton's Paradise Lost."

His research interests include the following:

  • Ecology in 17th and 18th Cent. British Literature
  • Representation of Landscapes
  • Tree of Life, cultural history of forestry 
  • History of the Book
