Biography

Dr. Sporleder has had experience at every level of the education system — beginning with elementary teaching and administration through work in secondary reading and then as a professor at Montana State University. She has also had experience as an NCATE and assessment coordinator as well as a professional development provider in research-based mathematics and reading.

Interests

Dr. Sporleder's research is in beginning reading for both young children and the older low-performing reader, providing professional development to individual schools in implementing scientifically research-based reading. She is assisting in the development of a spelling test used for screening reading problems. Dr. Sporleder is a member of the Society for the Scientific Study of Reading and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
