J. William Cupp was raised in a Christian home by godly parents, in Pompano Beach, Florida. He and his siblings attended parochial schools through high school. Through this experience Cupp developed a deep appreciation for education and the importance of a Christ-centered curriculum. After college he married his best friend, Cindy, and was commissioned in the Navy. He and his wife sailed the world, traveled to other lands, and started a family. Upon retirement from the Navy, God brought them to IWU and Marion to raise their daughters.
