Biography

J. William Cupp was raised in a Christian home by godly parents, in Pompano Beach, Florida. He and his siblings attended parochial schools through high school. Through this experience Cupp developed a deep appreciation for education and the importance of a Christ-centered curriculum. After college he married his best friend, Cindy, and was commissioned in the Navy. He and his wife sailed the world, traveled to other lands, and started a family. Upon retirement from the Navy, God brought them to IWU and Marion to raise their daughters.

Interests

J. William Cupp's interests start in studying the essence of programming languages. During his Navy career he became interested in the emerging field of Software Engineering. He sees this as the keystone to the future of commercial computing.

Recently, he developed an interest in open source software and the economics behind it. He sees this movement as the democratization of software development, part of solving the software crisis, as well as a merging of his interests.
