The Biblical Literature major in the School of Theology and Ministry at IWU is designed to give students a well-balanced and in-depth look at the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. In addition, the Biblical Literature major features several well-known Bible professors, including Wilbur Williams, Ken Schenck, and Steve Lennox. Students will look forward to experiencing the Greek and Hebrew languages with Elaine Bernius and have the opportunity to gain hands-on archeological experience during the Summer in Israel program with Brian Bernius.

Biography

Scott Burson is in his seventh year as a full-time faculty member at Indiana Wesleyan University. Scott teaches courses in philosophy and theology, and serves as the co-coordinator for the sports ministry major. Prior to joining the School of Theology and Ministry, Scott was IWU's assistant vice president for marketing for six years. While working in administration, Scott served as an adjunct professor for both the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Adult and Professional Studies. Scott is in the final months of a Ph.D. program at the London (UK) School of Theology. His Ph.D. thesis is entitled "Apologetics and the New Kind of Christian: A Critical Assessment of Brian D. McLaren's Emergent Defense of the Faith."

Interests

Scott is the co-author (with Dr. Jerry L. Walls) of C.S. Lewis and Francis Schaeffer: Lessons for a New Century from the Most Influential Apologists of Our Time (IVP, 1998), which has also been translated into Korean and Portuguese. He has published more than 30 articles in a wide variety of periodicals and is a member of the International Society of Theta Phi, an honor society for theological students, scholars in the field of religion, and outstanding religious leaders. His professional organizations also include the Society for Christian Philosophers and the Wesleyan Theological Society.
