The Biblical Literature major in the School of Theology and Ministry at IWU is designed to give students a well-balanced and in-depth look at the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. In addition, the Biblical Literature major features several well-known Bible professors, including Wilbur Williams, Ken Schenck, and Steve Lennox. Students will look forward to experiencing the Greek and Hebrew languages with Elaine Bernius and have the opportunity to gain hands-on archeological experience during the Summer in Israel program with Brian Bernius.

Biography

For more than three decades the Rev. Dr. Constance Cherry has served the church in various full-time ministries including: director of worship and music, pastor, and professor in the academy. In addition to teaching regularly at The Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies, she teaches in various international settings and speaks at conferences. Her latest publication is The Worship Architect: A Blueprint for Designing Culturally Relevant and Biblically Faithful Services (Baker Academic, 2010).

Interests

Constance Cherry is a published author, composer, and hymnist. Her areas of expertise include Christian worship (particularly addressed within the discipline of practical theology), music in worship and liturgy, and congregational song. In addition to her recently released book on worship, her publications include choral anthems, a children’s musical, service music, articles in journals, and a chapter in a book. Her hymn texts presently appear in six major denominational hymnals.
