The faculty of the CIS department at IWU brings a wealth of experience to the classroom, both academic and professional. All three faculty members have PhDs in their respective fields. In addition to their years of academic experience, they also bring in practical experience from both business and the military. Their areas of specialization include machine hardware, software engineering and Internet program development. Overriding all of their knowledge is a deep and abiding faith, a faith that shows through in their classrooms and their lives.

Melissa Lindsey; PhD Asst Prof; Mathematics melissa.lindsey@indwes.edu

Dr. Lindsey moved to Indiana from California to attend graduate school at Purdue University. She joined the IWU faculty in 2011 upon completion of her Ph.D. in Mathematics. She is incredibly blessed that God led her to IWU where she can teach mathematics in a Christ-centered environment.

Educational Background:

  • B.S., 2004, California Polytechnic State University
  • Ph.D., 2011, Purdue University

Dr. Lindsey's main area of research is commutative algebra. In particular her Ph.D. thesis studied numerical invariants of minimal free resolutions. She is currently continuing additional research in this area and is very excited about the opportunities at IWU to engage undergraduate students in mathematical research.
