Enrollment
A record 14,756 students are enrolled for 2007's fall semester classes at Indiana Wesleyan University's three colleges. It is the 20th consecutive year that IWU, now Indiana's largest private college, has reported record enrollment. This rapid growth has made IWU the largest institution in the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (the main organization of Christ-centered, four-year, liberal arts institutions in the U.S and Canada), the largest private university in the state of Indiana and one of the fastest growing in the United States.

The 2007 numbers represent a 6 percent increase from the '06 total enrollment of 13,917. Enrollment in traditional classes on the Marion campus has increased 4 percent to top 3,000 for the first time. There are 3,050 students enrolled for '07 fall semester classes in Marion, compared to 2,935 students in '06.

More students also are living on the Marion campus, 2,382 this year compared to 2,330 a year ago. Over the past decade, the balance of students attending classes on IWU's Marion campus has shifted steadily from commuter to residential. In 1997, 60 percent of traditional students lived on campus compared to 78 percent in 2007.

Enrollment in IWU's adult education programs, which began in 1985, has reached almost 11,000 students for the first time. Classes for adult students meet at various sites - including 14 regional campuses - in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio. About 4,100 adult students are enrolled in online classes.

Here is a two-year comparison for fall semester classes for IWU's three colleges:
  2006 2007 Change
College of Arts and Sciences 2,935 3,050 +4 percent
College of Adult & Professional Studies 10,351 10,958 +5.5 percent
